Assignment 3

  The first one I chose is by Sam Spratt. I actually really like all of his work, due it his style being very abstract and unique.  However I chose this one due to it being his own self portrait which he doesn't have much of. I felt inspired from this one because my goal is to incorporate some kind of abstract value, this in my opinion seemed like a fun take on a self portrait. For the second one the concept and idea is what really inspired me. To me this is such a cool idea and painting. In fact he has a series where it becomes more and more “infinite”. The artist is Seamus Wray. He states that his goal for his art is to mind bend. I just really enjoy how the painting is painting himself and that it keeps going in later paintings. It is awesome work to me. For the third one, I needed something that incorporated a ukulele. This one was great. It was simple yet used value and depth perfectly. Final Assignment

  Sam Ferguson  5/9/2021 Art 105 This final project really ties in all my last assignments together and as well as this year.  On this assignment I wanted to go for that simple clean look with a deep message. For the design I was inspired by a classic textbook diagram of a brain and silhouette of a head. Instead of the brain however having curvy “healthy lines” I chose to do jagged and “cracked” lines. In the beginning of the year and pretty much through this whole pandemic I have been in a constant low. I am unclear if it was really the events of Covid or the year after high school and not having much of a social life after, however it was most likely a mix of both. This assignment has shown that.
